And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live. KJV
Just to back up a verse, the children of Israel was in the wilderness for forty years and God led them. In the scripture its says this leading "was to humble them, to prove them who he was, to show the truth in their heart and to show him if they would keep his commands are not." There is a time in life that we all go through the wilderness, this time is not to hurt us but to elevate us in the things of God. We have to understand that God is actually showing us who we are and breaking away layers of doubt, greed, self-righteousness and many more things that our flesh may hold onto. In this maturation, we see that we are to complete the assignments that we have been given.
How long we stay in the wilderness is up to us...are we seeking the kingdom of God or are we in the awful woe is me stage? Are we thanking God for the reproving, breaking, and molding process or are we complaining about the pain, which is purposeful in our destiny? As he allowed the children of Israel to become hungry and fed them in an manner never known by man. He will do the same for us in our wilderness to show you that he will fed you with resources unknown to any man.
Our God teaches us by demonstration in the above scripture that he is the source without his word we have nothing. Yes, bread is good it fills us when we are hungry but who sustains the bread is what preserves us. It is the word of God that has been spoken over our life's that assures we are fed, clothed and ministered to. God has determined the outcome, but are we willing to walk through the wilderness to obtain the favor and grace that our god has readily available to us in the promise land?
In this weeks reading, meditate on the scripture; as you do the understanding of who God is in your life will come forth and greet you with joy. Remember we do not sustain ourselves it is the agape (love) from above that keeps us through our trials. So we should stand upright and firmly on every word that our God speaks, in those words there is life.
